The town of al-Iskandariya, 24 miles south of Baghdad, suffered the attack of a suicide bomber at around 10.30 a.m. on Saturday. The bomb which was an explosive vest was set off by the suicide bomber and it killed 3 people and left 31 others injured. Those amongst the dead were members of the ‘awakening councils’ who had visited the place to collect their salaries and Iraqi soldiers and some others were wounded. The members who called themselves as the Sons of Iraq were part of the Sunni movement. The credit for the nationwide dip in violence was possible with their help says the US military.
